An Introvert Walks Into a Flower Workshop…

Arden Dispatch is having our first event outside of business hours and we’re excited! It’s called Bouquets and Bubbles so, clearly, we will be providing some bubbly drinks and snacks while we create. We are collaborating with @workshopflowersca owner Becky Icelow for a floral design workshop as an introduction to her and her flowers since we will be carrying them in the store soon. 💐

If you give me a bunch of flowers and I make a bouquet with them, they will NOT look organized at all, so I definitely need this workshop. Both Chloe and hot hubby are extremely good at flower arranging and I can’t figure out how they do it, but I love it when there are beautifully crafted bouquets around the house.

Serena and Chloe are the leads on this and are pumping up the enthusiasm which they know is important to do for me, because, if I’m being honest, socializing outside of work is hard for my brain to enjoy. Once I am at an event, I have a good time; but putting it on my calendar and having to show up is a weird negative for me. Why does my brain do this? I like people and enjoy chatting with my customers, but after hours you’ll find me at my kitchen table quietly doing the New York Times Crossword. Hot hubby knows not to bother me during this time and says, “Can we chat or do you need your quiet time?” and that’s why he’s the hottest hubby ever! 😊

If it were up to me, I would hole up in my house with my family and be a hermit after work. I have a coaster in the store that says, “I’m not going to show up, but I still want to be invited.” I relate to that so much and it makes me sad. My closest friends know I can do about 2 hours tops at a social event and then I am energetically tapped out. I am fascinated that people can stay at a party or go to a concert for hours. We had an engagement party for Serena a few weeks ago, and while the majority of the people left by 9:00, some stayed until 11:00 and I bragged for days that I was a partier!

Thank God for my social children who make it their mission to push me out of my comfort zones (my comfort zones are so damn comfy!). I may be a certified homebody, but I really am excited to spend an afternoon creating something beautiful with all of you. Bouquets and Bubbles feels like the perfect mix of creativity, connection, and just enough socializing that even my introvert brain can enjoy it. If you’re joining us, I can’t wait to see you there!
